- Leadership - Feb 22, 2017

Global tech giants Amazon and Vodafone will be among the judging panel at a competition in Luxembourg to find the brightest startup enterprises.

As part of a global series of conferences and competitions with the goal of bridging startup ecosystems worldwide, the Startup World Cup event encourages the most talented entrepreneurs to go head-to-head for investment.

16 regional events are scheduled all over the world and will lead up to a Grand Finale in Silicon Valley.

The regional semifinal, but most importantly the first event of its kind ever held in Europe, will take place in Luxembourg on March 8 2017.

Through this global event, the Luxembourg Government, Farvest (the organizer) and EY Luxembourg (the main sponsor hosting this regional event in the EY premises) will be giving the Luxembourg startups exposure to Silicon Valley and access to some of top VCs and tech entrepreneurs in the world.

The winner of the pitching competition will represent Luxembourg at the Grand Finale in Silicon Valley competition on March 24 with 15 other startups for a chance to win a US $ 1,000,000 prize in investment.

Keynote speakers of the Luxembourg ceremony will include Thaïg Khris (Founder & CEO, OnOff & Three times world ramp skating Champion), Jonathan Prince (Co-founder, Digicash Payments), Olivier Lemaire (Partner - Telecom Leader, EY Luxembourg) and Kamel Amroune (Managing Director, IT One).

The jury members of the Luxembourg competition are Raz Bachar (Head of Startup Business Development, EMEA, Amazon Web Services), Warrick Cramer (Global Head of SCM Strategy & Innovation, Vodafone), Yannick Oswald (Principal, Mangrove Capital Partners) and Alain Rodermann (Founder and Managing Partner, Expon Capital).
