Amazon driving for car sales across Europe
Amazon are stepping up their plans to join the car sales market across Europe.
A report in the German trade periodical Automobilewoche cited Christophe Moeller, an industry specialist who revealed he has been tasked with overseeing the company’s dealings with European car manufacturers.
Amazon declined to comment but Moeller also said that they have been hiring sales executives for the business, which is set to be run out of Luxembourg but with the first vehicles being sold in the United Kingdom.
The online retail giant made an initial venture into the auto industry in 2016 when it agreed with Fiat to sell its 500, 500L and Panda models via its Italian website.
"The time has arrived to give consumers a new, more efficient and transparent way to choose a new vehicle," Gianluca Italia, responsible for Fiat Chrysler in Italy, said last November.
