Profile: the new CEO of GKN, Kevin Cummings
GKN, the aerospace and automotive engineering firm, has announced Kevin Cummings as its new CEO.
Cummings will take over from the long-serving Nigel Stein in January, but why is he the ideal man to step into Stein's shoes?
Kevin Cummings ascension to GKN's CEO chair will coincide with him reaching ten years' service at the British-based global engineering company.
Cummings first joined GKN in 2008, assuming the position of CEO and President Aerostructures - North America, staying in that role for six years.
In 2014, he became CEO of the company's Aerospace division as a whole, responsibility that prepared him perfectly for the top job - one that became vacact when Stein recently elected to end his five-year stint.

Prior to joining GKN, Cummings worked for Alliant Techsystems as Executive Vice President & General Manager - Launch System, holding other leadership positions both there and at Hercules Incorporated.
Cummings was appointed to GKN's Board in January 2016 and the outgoing Stein believes he is the perfect person to guide the company forward.
“GKN has excellent market positions, outstanding technology and is well positioned to continue its global growth. I am delighted that Kevin has been appointed to succeed me," he said.
“This company has a long history of success based on the efforts of our dedicated employees around the world. I thank them greatly for their contribution."
