Profile: the new CEO of Hermes Europe, Carole Walker
Carole Walker has recently taken up the role of Chief Executive Officer at Hermes Europe, the delivery service owned by the Otto group.
Walker has replaced Donald Pilz in the position following his unexpected resignation - but what made her the ideal person to replace Pilz?
Carole Walker has nothing new to learn about the Otto group having worked with the conglomerate for 30 years.
Walker is widely regarded as one of the German company's leading employees and was the standout candidate for the CEO job following Donald Pilz's departure.
Her first senior position within the firm was awarded to her in 2001 when she was given the role of Operations Director of Hermes UK having worked in its customer service and warehousing divisions.

"We are delighted to have found in Ms Walker a very experienced, highly successful and very strong personality with proven leadership qualities for this important task and wish her all the best," said Hanjo Schneider, Member of the Executive Board Otto Group and Chairman of the Supervisory Board Hermes Europe GmbH.
Walker added: "This new role is an amazing opportunity for me to use my experience, industry expertise and UK success to help support and develop Hermes’ businesses across Europe."
"I am excited about the possibilities and opportunities, not only for me personally, but for us as a Group. My passion for Hermes UK could not be more apparent and I intend to take that same passion across the Group."
