Profile: the new CEO of Alphabet Italia, Andrea Castronovo

Alphabet has appointed Andrea Castronovo as the new Chief Executive Officer of its Italy division, a role he will start at the beginning of February. 

Castronovo replaces Andrea Cardinali, who left to pursue further professional opportunities - but what makes Castronovo his ideal replacement? 

The Italian has built his pedigree through a number of years in the automotive industry both in his native country and with continent-wide responsibilities at BMW.

After enrolling on higher education in both Sweden and Italy, Castronovo worked at Renault before joining legendary manufacturer Ferrari, where he was a Sales & Marketing Director between 2000 and 2003.

Following a stint as Managing Director of West Europe, he joined the BMW Group in 2007, taking account for his home country as CEO of its Italy division.

Further managerial responsibility was thrust upon his shoulders when he was made CEO of its Central and Eastern European business before Castronovo took on his current role of Head of Customer Centric Sales Strategy.

Alphabet, which sprouted from the BMW Group, manages a portfolio of 650,000 leased cars and light commercial vehicles of all makes for business customers and is ranked fourth in the market worldwide.
