Holland & Barrett appoints Steve Carson as MD to drive digital transformation
Steve Carson is to become Holland & Barrett's first Managing Director, with the specific remit to oversee the retailer's digital transformation.
Carson will join the British company from Sainsbury's Argos, where he managed its own transformation and transition into a 'digital first' company while in his role as director of retail and customer operation.
Holland & Barrett, which wants to strengthen its position as one of the leading health and wellness brands in the world, was taken over by L1 Retail in a deal worth £1.8bn in June last year.

Carson's appointment is seen as significant step, with the company looking to digitise its operations from the supply chain through to customer service.
"Coming so soon after our acquisition by L1 Retail, it is a clear signal of our intent to become one of the world’s leading health and wellness brands," said Peter Aldis, Holland & Barrett Chief Executive.
"Steve brings with him considerable breadth and depth of senior-level experience in driving transformation at Sainsbury’s Argos. He will focus on our digital transformation programme and will help us continue to innovate in stores, ecommerce, logistics and supply chain as well as in customer service and fulfilment, creating the right platform for long-term sustainable digital growth."
Carson himself added: "I’m excited at the fresh challenge ahead. Holland & Barrett is a long-standing and admired brand with enormous potential and a clear health and wellbeing proposition that is growing in popularity and relevance around the world."
