Rank Group hires John O'Reilly as new CEO to drive digital future
British gambling firm Rank Group has brought in John O'Reilly as its new chief executive.
The current William Hill board member and former digital lead for Ladbrokes will assume his new role on May 7, with Rank Group looking to focus more business online as customer numbers dwindle in its casino and bingo halls.
As the owner of brands such as Mecca Bingo and Grosvenor Casinos, the United Kingdom's biggest casinos brand, Rank Group earned revenues of over £750mn in 2018 but is facing challenges to its core businesses.

On top of leading digital operations at Ladbrokes, O'Reilly also helped relaunch Coral's online offering as Managing Director of Coral Interactive. In total, the industry veteran has accumulated 25 years of experience in the sector.
"John brings a wealth of gambling industry experience, particularly in digital, and I am delighted that he is joining the board of Rank as its chief executive," said Ian Burke, chairman of Rank. "His impressive reputation and track record for delivering growth mean he is well-equipped to drive our performance going forward."
O'Reilly himself added: "Rank has very strong brands which resonate with customers and a growing digital offering and I look forward to building on this strong platform and taking Rank onto its next stage of development."
