Profile: Lou Rivieccio, the new president of UPS Europe

Lou Rivieccio has spent a mammoth 34 years at UPS so will take a mountain of experience into his new job.
Rivieccio has worked his way through the company right from the very bottom, having started as a part-time package handler in Spring Valley, New York.
He has gone on to hold a number of key roles at UPS throughout North America, including vice president of operations for UPS Canada, president of the Northern Plains District, and president of the Ohio Valley District in the U.S. In his most recent job as president of the UPS East Region in the U.S., he provided strategic direction for approximately 175,000 employees in 26 states.

At the head of the logistics firm's Europe division - the company's second largest region - Riviecco will assume responsibility for nearly 50,000 workers across 56 countries and territories.
"Lou comes to Europe at a time when we are investing in our network to improve speed, add capacity and service the demand we’re seeing driven by ecommerce and cross-border trade," said Jim Barber, UPS Chief Operating Officer.
"Europe is a prime example of how our smart global logistics network continues to evolve, helping customers of all sizes to build their businesses. I have no doubt that Lou’s knowledge and experience will ensure ongoing success and growth for us and our customers in this key region of the world."
Cesarone has been appointed president of UPS International and a member of UPS’s Management Committee, the company’s senior leadership group.
