Volkswagen appoints Ralf Brandstaetter as its COO of VW
The Chief Executive Officer of Volkswagen, Herbert Diess, has announced Ralf Breandstaetter as the new Chief Operating Officer of the firm’s VW brand.
The parent company of Audi and SEAT has made the appointment as part of its strategy to renew its senior management.
The CEO joined the German automaker in April earlier this year, and has since aimed to recruit new managers and focus on electric vehicles.
Brandstaetter, 49, will be VW’s new COO from 1 August, whilst maintaining his current role at the company as Procurement Chief, which he was appointed in December 2015.
The new COO has worked for Volkswagen Group for 25 years, since 1993, fulfilling roles such as purchasing for SEAT, metal procurement, and International Project Manager.
“Ralf Brandstätter has outstanding commercial and technical expertise,” stated Herbert Diess.
“In the newly-created function of COO he will make a decisive contribution to taking the Volkswagen brand further forward. I would also like to thank Frank Welsch.”
“In addition to his extensive duties as the Volkswagen brand’s Board member for Technical Development, he also assumed many additional functions in an interim capacity to safeguard the successful leadership of brand business in a pivotal phase.”
