Greggs enters 2019 in a strong position with increase to profit forecast
Greggs announced today that they have increased their profit margins following successful sales of seasonal festive products. They have now increased their profit forecast to £88mn for 2018.
Chief Executive, Roger Whiteside, commended December as: “a very strong finish to 2018 despite the well-publicised challenges in the consumer sector.
“This performance was broad-based, reflecting the strength of our range of freshly-prepared food and drinks, and the strategic changes that we have made in recent years to focus more effectively on the food-on-the-go market.”

This follows closely behind further success for the previous chain, as Roger Whiteside was awarded the Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in the 2019 New Year's Honours List, for his dedication to equality in the workplace.
Whiteside said: “I am delighted and honoured to receive this recognition and proud to play my part, alongside a great team of people both at Greggs and through the Women’s Business Council, to promote equality of opportunity and progression for women in the workplace. It is not just the right thing to do but makes good business sense and contributes to our economic growth and development.”
“Our Board continues to believe it is in the best interests of the Company to bring women through to the very top of the organisation. We are proud of the fact that almost half of our management population are female with growing representation at our highest executive levels”.
This week Greggs has launched their new product, the Vegan sausage roll, which has been met with immense popularity. This is sure to promise a strong fourth quarter for the company.
