How the 2020 EurAfrican Forum will unite Europe and Africa

The 2020 EurAfrican Forum has one clear goal: to find a common ground between the two continents. 

This summer the EurAfrican Forum will meet for a third edition in order to build upon relations between the two continents. The summit will mark an exciting opportunity for over 700 key business players in Europe and Africa, from over 60 countries, to create new opportunities that will result in mutually beneficial economic prosperity.

In search for common ground 

To compliment the overarching theme of “In Search of Common Ground” by focusing on Africa-Europe relations, Free Trade Agreements, CLimate Change, African Arts and Culture, Infrastructure, Connectivity and Off-grid solutions. 

José Manuel Durão Barroso, Chairman of the EurAfrican Forum, said: “It is now time to establish a structured cooperation between Africa and Europe, engaging not only public decision makers but creating a denser network, embarking in the discussions entrepreneurs, young people, women, artists, scientists.” 


The Portuguese Diaspora Council

This year’s edition will be hosted by the Portuguese Diaspora Council, a non profit private association, which was recognised in 2019 as a non-governmental organization for development. Hosting alongside the Portuguese Diaspora Council is Municipality of Cascais, with the High Patronage of the Portuguese Presidency.

Filipe de Botton, Chairman of the Board of the Portuguese Diaspora Council, said: “2020 is a pivotal year for Europe and Africa as this new decade marks the unavoidable collaboration between our continents at a time when climate change, demographic challenges and the technological revolution are central pieces of Africa and Europe’s sustainable development puzzle.”
