GM’s European division Opel will be building the Ampera-e in 2017, an affordable electric car that’s based on the same technology as GM’s Chevrolet Bolt.

General Motors Chief Executive Mary Barra said: “Like its twin, the Chevrolet Bolt EV, the Ampera-e promises to transform the electric vehicle market in Europe as the first EV that combines long range at an affordable price.”

Barra also said that the Ampera-e would also offer a longer electric range than many of its rivals and would have space similar to that of a compact car.
